Steps to Take After a Dog Bite
Blog

Dogs are man’s best friend. However, that does not always mean they are the friendliest of creatures. Here is what you need to do immediately following a dog bite.

Identify an Owner

If the dog is with a person, get that individual’s name and contact information. In the event you were bit by a stray dog, then there is not much that can be done in terms of trying to get damages.

Get Medical Treatment

Go to a hospital right away. This is even more important if you were bit by a stray because that dog may have had rabies. Even if the bite does not seem too bad, it is always preferable to play it safe.

Photograph Injuries

Take pictures of your wounds. In the event this incident goes to court, those pictures are going to be beneficial to have.

Call a Dog Bite Attorney

Many lawyers have a certain amount of experience with dog bites. Find one in your area. Scheduling a meeting is good even if you just want to review your legal options, but an attorney will also be helpful if you go to court.

Victims of dog bites have rights. Even if the bite does not look too severe, it is still good to call Carlson Blau and Clemens SC at (414) 342-1000 for more information.
